Into the Wild: Growing Together Beyond Comfort Zones
I recently had the opportunity to chaperone a sixth-grade camping trip to Pinnacles National Park. My role? The “Motivation Manager.” It was magical to watch these kids push themselves and support one another. At the trail junction between the “regular” hike and the “challenge” hike, I was in charge of giving a little pep talk.
I told them this story:
A couple of years ago, I chaperoned the class trip to Yosemite National Park, where the same decision awaited—“regular” or “challenge” hike. Through a mix of events, everyone ended up on the “challenge” hike because they missed the turn-off back to camp.
That evening around the campfire, as each kid shared highlights from the day, I was struck by what I heard from those who hadn’t planned on the tougher route:
“I didn’t think I could do it, which is why I didn’t sign-up for the challenge hike. But, now I know I can! And, I’m so glad that I did!”
“The challenge hike was by far the best part of my day.”
“I can’t believe how much I was going to miss out on without even knowing it and I am so thankful that I ended up on the challenge hike.”
After my story, the teacher asked everyone to close their eyes and rate their readiness for the challenge hike on a scale from 1 (no way) to 5 (absolutely!). All but one kid opted in! That one student was already stepping out of her comfort zone by joining the camping trip, and she was proud of herself for that.
When we reached the top, we were greeted by a California Condor, its massive 9-foot wingspan swooping close overhead. It felt like an instant reward. Later in a reflection circle, the kids reflected on their journey to the peak, the breathtaking view, and the satisfaction of pushing beyond what they thought possible.
My kid’s teacher is an absolute gem. He truly believes that this type of experience, expansion of one’s comfort zone (because the hike was HARD), adaptability, flexibility, connection, team work and perseverance is more valuable to kids’ future lives than academics.
And, to see it all unfold before your eyes makes it pretty clear that he’s right.
So, the next time you’re faced with a choice between staying comfortable or pushing your limits, remember these kids. Challenge yourself. Step onto the path that seems a little harder, a little higher. You might just discover a new strength, a new perspective, or even a new view you never imagined. Embrace the journey, trust in your resilience, and see where it takes you.

The Rise of FOR DUMMIES and
The Future of Publishing – Insights from the Creator of an Iconic Brand
This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with Jason Feifer, Editor-in-Chief of Entrepreneur Magazine and author of Build for Tomorrow. Jason shared valuable insights about embracing change, navigating rejection, and the often-unexpected paths that lead to success.
Here are three key takeaways:
Sales Teaches Resilience
Every entrepreneur should experience sales firsthand—it’s a masterclass in resilience and adaptability. When you sell directly to customers, you learn how to engage authentically, handle rejection, and refine your approach. Think “belly-to-belly” sales: build real relationships, ask open-ended questions, and address your customer’s needs. Every interaction is an opportunity to grow.Seize Every Opportunity
The phrase “Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity” rings true in business. Be ready, stay open, and always listen for chances to adapt and innovate. Ask yourself, “Why would my customer want to engage with me?” Explore the gaps in the market, find what’s missing, and be proactive in aligning your products and services with these needs.Build a Balanced Team
Success is a team effort. Don’t try to do everything yourself. Hiring for your weaknesses builds a team that complements your strengths and fills in blind spots. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who encourage your vision. A balanced team brings new ideas and strengths that help your business grow.
Strategy Spotlight:
Prioritize Self-Care to Sustain Your Success
Running a business requires energy, resilience, and focus, all of which are fueled by self-care. Think of self-care as a foundation for sustainable growth. Whether it’s setting aside time to recharge, getting enough sleep, or establishing boundaries around work, taking care of your health will strengthen both your personal and professional life. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup—investing in your well-being is an investment in your business’s success.

The Magic That Comes from Alignment
Made with ChatGPT
There’s a kind of magic that happens when you’re in alignment—when your thoughts, energy, and actions are all on the same page.
Recently, I’ve noticed something surprising yet comforting: people I’m thinking about often call me out of the blue, like they can feel my energy reaching out. There’s a natural flow happening where more people seem to be reaching out, and our conversations have become more meaningful and authentic. I’ve come to understand that this shift is part of something bigger, though I’m still understanding and exploring the magic of this concept.
In aligning myself, focusing on being present and intentional with my relationships, I’ve created an invisible bridge of connection. It’s not about trying harder or forcing anything; it’s about being truly in tune with myself, allowing that energy to flow naturally. This alignment has opened the door for meaningful interactions and strengthened bonds in ways I never could have imagined.
It’s a quiet kind of magic, and in these moments, I’m reminded of how powerful it is to show up authentically in every part of life.
